Saskatoon police arrest man allegedly wearing body armour, wielding machete

A 21-year-old man is facing a weapons possession charge after police allege he was carrying a large machete while wearing body armour in Saskatoon.

According to a police news release issued Saturday, officers were called to the 300 block of Avenue F S. shortly before 4:00 a.m. CST

The caller reported a suspect carrying what they believed to be a firearm.

As officers arrived on scene they spotted a man matching the caller’s description of the suspect, but he ran away from police.

A police dog found the suspect hiding in a yard.

Police said the man was wearing a kevlar vest and in possession of a large machete.

He is now facing charges of weapons possession, breaching a probation order and breaking a condition of an undertaking.
