28-year-old is facing a charge of sexual assault after a 78-year-old woman woke up to find a man in her bed.
Officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Avenue M South on Monday around 1 a.m., according to Saskatoon police in a news release. The 78-year-old woman fought the suspect off after he attempted to sexually assault her. Police say the man then fled the residence.
The canine unit quickly found the suspect walking shirtless nearby and apprehended him. The suspect was assessed by MD Ambulance after suffering a dog bite and then transported to the hospital for further medical attention. According to police, the man, while at the hospital, spit on the escorting police officers.
In addition to sexual assault, the 28-year-old is also charged with unlawful confinement, break and enter, and assaulting a police officer.
