Saskatoon Planning Vigil To Honor Those Killed Following Race-Fueled violence In Charlottesville, Va. Over The Weekend.

Charlottesville vigil planned in Saskatoon

People in Saskatoon are planning a vigil honouring those killed following race-fueled violence in Charlottesville, Va. over the weekend.

A 32-year-old woman died and many others were injured after a car rammed a group of people protesting against white supremacists who converged on the small city to demonstrate against the planned removal of a statue of Confederate Civil War general Robert E. Lee.

Two state troopers also died in a helicopter crash as they monitored clashes between so-called “alt-right” demonstrators, many of whom were recorded displaying swastikas and Confederate flags, and counter-protesters.

A widely shared Facebook post on Monday encouraged people to meet outside Saskatoon City Hall at 7 p.m. for a vigil scheduled to run until 9 p.m.
