Danielle Peskowitz Bregoli, aka the“Cash me ousside” girl, appeared in a Delray Beach, Florida, court on Wednesday morning to face several felony charges.
WPTV reported that Bregoli, 14, was charged with grand theft, filing a false report, and fraud prior to her infamous appearance on Dr. Phil. The charges are tied to alleged acts the 14-year-old committed against her mother, Barbara Ann Bregoli, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Danielle’s estranged father, Ira Peskowitz, was supposedly in court on Wednesday. As Crime Online reported late last month, Peskowitz and Barbara are mired in a custody battle. In an interview with the Post, Peskowitz claimed he sought help for his daughter well before the internet fame.
The teen’s mother had a different take, however. A day before Danielle appeared in court, Barbara told the Post that her daughter is working through her behavioral issues in therapy and that a tutor is teaching her four days a week. She also said that she is tired of Peskowitz painting her as a bad mother.
Barbara fired back at her—and her daughter’s—critics:
“Danielle didn’t make herself famous. You guys, the public, they made her famous. I’m not going to be embarrassed of my daughter. Right now, the sky’s the limit for her.”
In court on Wednesday, Peskowitz’ spokesperson, Elliot Cohen, said he does not want his daughter living in Hollywood with her mother signing reality television deals.
“There is a basis for a relationship there. I think that when Danielle is given the chance to reach out, she does reach out,” Cohen said. “We just don’t know how much of her life is being orchestrated by reality show producers and agents at this point.”
Scott Richardson, the teen’s attorney, declined to disclose whether he and prosecutors were negotiating a plea deal.
A Florida judge ordered the teen, who now lives in Los Angeles, to appear back in court on April 26.
