A mid-evening storm brought Saskatoon crashes of thunder, a period of intense rain and hail.
Environment Canada earlier placed the city of Saskatoon under a severe thunderstorm warning at 5:41 p.m. The city is now under a severe thunderstorm watch.
Environment Canada says a line of severe thunderstorms stretching from Tessier to Saskatoon was moving slowly towards the southeast. There are many reports of flooding in the city, as well as quarter-sized hail, according to Environment Canada.
Saskatoon police are also warning drivers and pedestrians to use caution, since they have received several reports about intersections being “underwater”.
Police were at the scene at Confederation Drive and Laurier Drive due to high water levels, as well as at Fairlight Drive, where several cars were stranded in high water.
“If you don’t have to go out tonight, relax at home,” the police said in a press release on Monday evening.
